Arrival in New Zealand | Airport & Shuttle
Most campervan hire companies offer courtesy transfers from and to international airports in New Zealand. The main locations for campervan hire are Auckland and Christchurch, however, some companies are also located in the Wellington and/or Queenstown areas. The free shuttle is usually also available from airport accommodation, however, this needs to be arranged before your arrival. It is not recommended to collect a vehicle immediately after long-haul flights. A minimum rest of 8 hours should be taken to ensure safe travels. Jetlag can affect orientation and reaction time and should not be underestimated. If your flight arrives in the afternoon, you are best to stay at an airport hotel for the first night and catch the shuttle to the campervan depot the next morning. For arrivals earlier in the day, we would recommend having a coffee or lunch break before collecting your campervan. On your first day driving the vehicle it is advisable to pre-book a campsite close to your starting point. Do not drive long distances on your first day!

Road Safety Awareness | Campervan Hire
Summer 2015 is coming to an end and we have witnessed one of the busiest peak summer holiday seasons in decades. Campervan companies were fully booked months ago and 99% of all available campervans in New Zealand were on the roads from mid December through to February. This is great news for the New Zealand economy and tourism operators, however, one negative aspect of the busy summer are increasing reports of road safety issues. Together with local traffic, the additional tourist influx has led to many incidents of dangerous driving, near misses and, unfortunately, some serious accidents. There have been many negative media reports about campervans on New Zealand roads this year and we have had repeated comments from clients, friends and family about poor driving behavior of some campervan travelers in New Zealand. Campervans are mostly large vehicles and therefore need to be driven at slower speeds compared to the standard car. Especially on some of New Zealand’s winding and narrow roads, extra care is required when driving a large camper. ...

Campervan Skiing Holidays | New Zealand
Cheap campervan hire prices in winter can be tempting to travel by campervan during a skiing holiday in New Zealand. Although this can work out perfectly fine, there are important factors to consider when choosing the right campervan type. Travelers must not be blinded by super-cheap daily rates, but evaluate the quality and vehicle features, comparing the various campervan types. Although it is possible to book a modern, 1 to 3 year old, campervan for a minimal amount of money, it may not be a wise decision due to the lack of essential winter equipment, hidden fees or unfair rental terms and conditions. It is essential to invest plenty of time in choosing a vehicle to avoid disappointments or cold and damp winter nights. Of course, if you don’t have the time to compare all options - We are always happy to help! We do all the work and send suitable campervan quotations to you within 24 hours. No booking fee and discounted hire rates. Interested? - Get your Campervan Quotation now!

Cooking in your Campervan | Camper Hire New Zealand
When it comes to cooking in your campervan an open mind and creativity are essential for success. The range of food and meals you are able to cook often depends on the size of your campervan kitchen. Compact campervans usually only feature a small fridge and one gas cooktop. As compact Toyota Hiace or Mazda campervans don’t have much interior space, most travelers keep cooking to a minimum. With limited resources you are best to stick to the bare basics, like boiling water for a cup of tea, cooking canned soup, baked beans, pasta or canned camping food. New Zealand supermarkets offer a good selection of canned food and some tasty and easy camping-specialized meals which can be cooked by simply placing the food packet into boiling water. ... Medium to large campervans, also called motorhomes, offer more options for cooking fresh and delicious food. ... With three to four gas cooktops, an oven and sometimes a separate grill, you have more possibilities to cook with a variety of fresh New Zealand produce. Motorhomes also provide more bench space for preparing your food. ...

Sleeping in a Campervan | Campervan Hire New Zealand
When booking a campervan most people never consider the sleeping comfort of their chosen vehicle. The biggest factor is still the price, but in hindsight many travelers would pick a different campervan to avoid awkward set-ups, impractical layouts and needless nuisances. Poor sleep, due to uncomfortable mattresses, lack of space or annoying mosquitos, can really interfere with your holiday. Considering that a campervan holiday involves a lot of driving, it is important to get adequate sleep regularly. Campervan daytime dining areas and seats usually transform into beds at night. Not magically, of course ... The traveler needs to make up and break down the bed every day in order to use the dining area. With some 2+1 Berth models, a second dining table and swiveling front seats allow the bed(s) to remain permanent. ...
